WWE Champion Becky Lynch announces pregnancy, Asuka is the New Champion
Becky Lynch has become one of the most widely known names in all of the WWE, and mainstream pop culture, in the past few years. But the Irish-born wrestler didn’t become The Man overnight.
From the days of a young wrestler struggling with personal demons in her teenage days to becoming the first woman to main event WrestleMania in 2019, Becky Lynch has proven time and time again that she’s not only the greatest female wrestler in WWE.
Lynch is currently signed to WWE on the Raw brand and she is currently on a hiatus due to pregnancy. WWE Raw women’s champion announced during an episode of “WWE Raw” on Monday night that she is pregnant.
The pregnancy, which will force her away from the ring for an extended period of time, ends her run with the title after 399 days as champion. Lynch’s reign is the second-longest with the women’s title in modern WWE history behind only Trish Stratus (448 days).
Lynch, whose real name is Rebecca Quin, made an emotional announcement during Raw, that she was relinquishing her title and stepping away from the ring.
“You go and be a warrior because I’m going to go be a mother,” Lynch told Asuka, who became the new champion.
Quin teased fans on Sunday that she was going to making a statement about her absence from the ring. “Haven’t been injured,” she tweeted. “Haven’t been talking much lately. So #Raw can’t come soon enough.”
The 33 years aged-wrestler is engaged to fellow wrestler, Seth Rollins (Colby Lopez), and this will be the first baby for the couple. Speaking exclusively to People magazine, Lynch confirmed that their new addition to their family is due in December.
She told, “I’ve always, always wanted kids, I’m just so career-focused that it became one of those things that, when you’re chasing a dream for so long, I always wondered, ‘Am I going to get around to it? Is it going to happen for me?”
Well, Becky and Seth Rollins first went public with their relationship last May and announced their engagement in August. They were set to marry this month but due to the pandemic those plans are on hold, Lynch told People. “We’ll get around to that,” said Lynch. “There’s no rush, and now we’ll have a little flower girl or a page boy.”
Lynch, a native of Ireland, has been with WWE since 2013. Besides, she is a trained actor and is actively pursuing a second career in film and television. She was cast in numerous plays in 2011 and 2012.
Additionally, she also had worked as a flight attendant with Aer Lingus for two and a half years.
